Kilwins is one of the best place, other than Better than Sex, to have desert. Must try the Milk Chocolate Cashew Bear Claw.

Great chocolate that we first experience in Charleston, SC. Same wonderful flavors but a little pricy. Great service and fantastic chocolate candies.

I am never one to turn down ice cream. You don't get a baby keg like mine by doing sit-ups! So, as I wandered Duval Street looking for sustenance, I could have stopped for a meal. I could have picked up a juice/smoothie. I could have. Or, I could have followed the smell of waffle cones and chocolate and enter into an ice cream palace. In case you can't figure out which review you're reading, I did the latter. The storefront is big, open and full of ice cream, chocolate and goodies. It wasn't too full of customers on the Sunday afternoon on which I visited which is why it was so perplexing that the young man working there would rather stand behind the counter (on the right as you walked in) than wait on me. Even a direct address ("Hi. Do you work here?") couldn't nudge him to be bothered to take my money. I was on my way out of the store when a woman came from the back to help me. She was quite sweet... but very new. When I asked for a couple of items, she didn't know how to make them and needed to consult the manual. Rather than wait any longer for what was supposed to be a spontaneous venture, I decided on the Turtle Sundae. Easy. Everyone knows what a Turtle Sundae is and Kilwin's is no different. For the sundae, I had the owner jump in to make mine. We had some nice conversation, talked about out mutual history with Tennessee and about ice cream, in general. Quite pleasant. The sundae itself looked great, although I would have preferred a little more heft to it. Once you got past the whipped cream, there wasn't much there. What was in abundance, however, was the sticker shock. $9.35 for a Turtle Sundae! For that price, I would expect it to sprout legs and lead me to a pot of gold. It was good ice cream... but not $9.35. I think this was the universe's way of telling me to start working out.

Few things get a 5 star rating from this guy, but Kilwins always does. Kilwins is a specialty chocolate shop with roots in northern Michigan. Don and Kathy Kilwin started the company some time ago and later sold it. New ownership later grew the company with franchises in many states, sprawling from Michigan to Florida and out west to Colorado. Specialty ice cream and chocolates and all so delicious. Try them all! Their specialty is Mackinac Island (Michigan) fudge, which are offered in several flavors. (Tip: Fudge is not chocolate so don't eat large quantity of fudge in a single sitting or you'll be sitting elsewhere with a rumbly in the tummy). Many Kilwin stores create some of their delectable chocolate products in store. You can watch them in action making in-house fudge or other treats. NOTE: Ever want to know what's made in-house and what is shipped in? Just search on products for the Kilwins label. If it lists an address for that local store, then it was likely made there. If the Kilwins label lists a city of "Petoskey, Michigan" then it was likely shipped in - but still delicious. Just know Kilwins chocolate is a little more expensive than your ordinary Hershey bar - but the quality is so much greater and well worth it!

About that fifth star - the employee that served us was curt and serious. For a Duval Street ice cream and sweet shop, I would expect better! Otherwise, Kilwins was pretty close to my ideal for a treat shop and I'll definitely be coming back and encouraging my friends to visit. :) Great ice cream!!!!!! This cute little shop is full of temptations. We were more focused on the ice cream the night we went, but could easily have been swayed by all the fudgy delights on offer! The salted caramel cone I had was wonderful and my brother raved about the float that he got. We will definitely be stopping here again on our next trip to Duval Street!

Walking down Duval Street you cant help but notice the sweet aromas from Kilwins. Even though I was on the search for mom and pop places, Killwins attracted me in like pollen attract bees. They have a little observation area where you can see the employees make fresh fudge. They have many fudge flavors on displays and you are able to try as many as you like. I thought the Peruvian Fudge that has authentic Peruvian cocoa in it was pretty good as well as the unique flavors of the Key Lime Fudge. These two are a must try! Fudge is not the indulgences that they sell. They have plenty of other things that will catch your eyes. Chocolate covered pretzels, cookies, apples. Candy, lollipops etc etc. If you need a sugar fix make sure you come check this place out!

Fudge heaven and such heavenly aroma that can be smelled just by walking by. They are constantly making the fudge fresh. Staff is nice and friendly and they have an abundance of both fudge and ice cream flavors. The fudge is sold by the 1/4, 1/2 or 1 pound and it's priced by the weight. They are very nice about letting you try the flavors before making a selection. I loved the coconut and the key lime. They also have chocolate covered pretzels and caramel apples. It's a great place to satisfy a sweet craving

A vacation with my wife means as much sugar as possible. I need sugar to keep up with her frantic tourist pace. Late into the night we wandered in for a sugar fix. The employee behind the counter asked me what I was looking for and I said I like peanut butter. He led me to the Nutter Butter covered in milk chocolate. The chocolate was thick but not too overpowering. I don't really like chocolate but it was a good enough portion to provide a bit of flavoring but let the peanut butter nutter butter shine through. For the cost however it was a tad elevated. I recognize the time it took to temper the chocolate and coat the cookie but wow... expensive. If I need a sweet treat this is a no brainer stop but I will expect to take a pocketbook hit in order to obtain my sugar high.

If Kilwin's was the last thing I ever ate, I would die happy. I'm a caramel corn junkie, and this place can't be beat. Chocolate covered graham crackers! Chocolate covered nutter butters! Chocolate covered Oreos! Oh man, the caramel apples!!! There is just too much to rave about.

Chocolate Covered Strawberries!!!! Everyone else steps in there for their fudge, caramels or assorted chocolates!!! Me? I'am in for affordable Chocolate covered Strawberries!!!! They are well priced, made daily, and up to my chocolatier standards!!! Did you know they are a low calorie snack??? So why not step in there indulge the senses and have a sweet treat while in Key West... Their Ice Cream is amazing too... This place has options for the entire family and even those lacking a sweet tooth!!! In addition to all the sweetness, their staff is just delightful!!! Great pit stop while in Duval street!!!!

The smell of this place will draw you in from a block away. They were making fresh waffle cones and fudge on the day we stopped in. Those combined smells were enough to draw anyone with a sweet tooth in like a moth to the flame. I love all things sweet and remembered this place from our last visit to Key West. I always know it's good if I remember it a full year later and crave the sweets. I got two types of fudge. The chocolate raspberry truffle was creamy and sweet without the fruit flavor being too much. The texture of the fudge was perfection. My second half slice was the Peruvian chocolate fudge. That was pure fudge nirvana. A lot of places can do flavored fudge well but I've always found that if they can do plain fudge well I'm much more impressed. This place has top notch plain fudge. Fudge can be so hard to make well, that will actually keep, and not melt into a puddle in this hot, humid climate. Kilwins nailed it. They are well worth the walk on Duval to grab something to satisfy your sweet tooth. They had a full range of ice creams, truffles, chocolate dipped confections, and prepackaged sweets to fill any need you might have. Believe me, you NEED at least one or two things from this place before you leave Key West. Trust me on that. They are incredibly helpful if you don't know what you are looking for and will give you samples of the ice cream and fudge to help make your decision easier. This will either make your decision harder or easier depending on how you look at it. I was torn between the two different flavors of fudge but after sampling them both was even more torn. I, of course, wound up with both which made the decision so much easier. When in doubt, get both! Your stomach will love you more for it!

After walking down Duval street for a while we ended up here because the AC felt so good. The shop was huge but there were only 2 people working there. Fortunately both of them were friendly and attentive because there was a large group ahead of us that kept demanding more and more samples. I ended up just getting a salted caramel and the strawberry on a waffle cone. The salted caramel was something new but delicious and perfect for the hot weather. The salty/sweet combo was great and the ice cream was creamy and rich and the cone was mmm...nicely made with a touch of sweetness. Definitely a spot to go for even if it's a bit of a stretch from the main area.

Chocolate turtles and amazing Caramels. Expensive, but a small price to pay for an edible extasy.

My nose found the ice cream and chocolate holy land of Kilwins amidst the old beer smelling boisterous Duval Street bars. Kilwins is always AWESOME!! The chocolate covered Oreos, chocolate ice cream waffle cone and gummy worms are a taste of heaven! Of course to have a taste of heaven comes at a high price. The choco-attendant was super friendly and attentive. #KilwinsFan

Kilwins Chocolates Fudge and Ice Cream is otherwise known as Heaven II. (I suggest key lime fudge.)

  • Jacob C.

This place was actually making fresh fudge when we showed up. We did the 2 for 1 special on the fudge and got the key lime, cookies and cream, and toasted coconut and it was all very good--kinda expensive but u get what u pay for. We also got a waffle cone with ice cream and it was very good. I would definitely return and or recommend to others.

I am sad to write a bad review since they were so pleasant. My fiance and I tried 4 different flavors. I couldn't eat either of mine, I ended up throwing them both away after walking around for awhile and feeling bad. My fiance ate his but was not happy. We went to Flamingo Crossing afterwards to make up for it.

Mediocre chocolates would probably only warrant a three star review, the fact that they charged me the wrong price, really frustrated me.

  • Little Miss Sunshine C.

The people who worked there were really kind. The ice cream was great but the wait was long because beside that the people were nice the kept ignoring that we were there and let people cut us.

  • Ellen L.

Tried some fudge and a couple of ice cream flavors. Definitely very good though maybe not the best I've ever had. The prices were high for what it seemed like we got. But overall would recommend it.

They have wonderful homemade sweets here. The sights and smells of them making the goodies make it just about impossible not to try something. The ice cream is very good also.

Just plain awesome... Hands down the best "sweets" spot on Duval. White Chocolate Coconut Clusters, and the Toasted Coconut Ice Cream is to die for.

  • Gordy M.

Should you really have to wait ten minutes to get helped with only two other customers in the store? No, didn't think so. I'll admit I didn't get any fudge, and it did look yummy. I opted for a two-scoop waffle cone of NOLA pralines and salted caramel. OK but not spectacular. As we were walking up Duval toward home, a lady with a cone full of custard from that other frozen treat spot declared, "Mine's better than yours." I couldn't argue.

Great milkshakes and amazing chocolates. My girlfriend used the phase "super freaking awesome" to describe the place. Great find in KW

We walked in because of the delicious smell that was wafting out of the store and into the street. When we walked in they had tons of selection to choose from. The place is extremely clean and all the items are highlighted in clear glass displays. While I was there employee were making different candies and treats, so everything is very fresh. On one of the employees recommendation I got a apple pie carmel apple. The green apple is dipped in a homemade carmel and then redipped in while chocolate and then rolled in cinnamon and sugar. I had the apple cut into slice to enjoy when I got home. Later that night I bought it out and the apple was still super crisp and the carmel was amazing. I also got a white chocolate dipped pretzel which was pretty standard. The best thing I had was a carmel dipped pretzel rod. The carmel is the best I have ever had. It almost melts in in mouth and doesn't stick in your teeth like most carmel. I cant wait to sneak back in here and try something else!

The boyfriend and I wandered into Kilwins as we were making our trek down Duval Street. I was in the mood for something sweet and this place just looked right. I tried a sample of one of their salted caramel fudge, and it was divine. I really wanted a pound of it but I knew I would consume it too quickly (I have self-restraint issues) and most likely die, but that was probably the best fudge I ever tasted. I wandered over to the ice cream and discovered that they had salted caramel ice cream. Oh yes please, a few scoops in a waffle cone, that was heaven on earth. I'm a big fan of salted caramel and Kilwins did it perfectly. And the waffle cone was still warm and so fresh. It's a good thing I don't live on Key West, or I'd be 400 pounds. The boyfriend got chocolate fudge ice cream in a cup (so unoriginal :P) and really enjoyed his. If you like sugar and joy and happiness, go get something at Kilwins.

We were walking on the streets and were checking on yelp for ice cream places...then as I took my eyes off the phone ..I saw this place...chocolates...ice cream and Fudge...thats it...my phone went into my pocket and I was in the store...The smell that hits you as soon as you enter the store puts you in a trance...this is hands down the best ice cream I ever had..they were making fudge right there and I couldnt just walk away without trying it..I tried the maple walnut fudge and it was just out of this world good.. Please do try this place and you will fall in love...the lady in the store was very sweet..she greeted people...gave them good suggestions and most importantly...one scoop for her means a scoop thats as big as a baseball...:)

Whatever you do, do not going to Kilwins if you've smoked pot. You will leave significantly poorer. Ok, seriously, Kilwins is awesome. Their candy apples take me back to my childhood (well... the good parts) and their ice cream is the best in all of Key West. The staff is friendly, the pace is spotlessly clean and I love them.

This is the third Kilwin's I have been in and they are all spotless. They have to be one of the cleanest candy and ice cream stores I have ever been in. Each night when we go back to the hotel we have to catch the shuttle back to the Beachside Marriott. Right across the street screaming come in, come in happens to be Kilwin's. Of course, we have to go check out the voices and see what they want from us! So far they have made us buy walnut and peanut covered caramel apples. The best coconut ice cream ever which is toasted coconut. Cashew brittle which is the best ever! Far better than peanut brittle. Some salted caramels, chocolate bars and absolutely delicious chocolate peanut butter cups. They have so many items. They have gummy gators which my two grandsons love. Carmel corn, chocolate covered pretzels, chocolate covered strawberries, chocolate covered rice crispier treats and the beat goes on and on! I think the chain is from Michigan. I just know when I see one I have to get the toasted coconut ice cream.

Great ice cream and chocolates! Ate more than my fair share during our trip to Key West.

  • Kyle T.

The salted caramel ice cream is about good as ice cream can be - try it in a waffle cone with pecans on top, and you'll have a hard time ever getting anything else. At least that's what thought I until I had the toasted coconut...now I just have to get a scoop of each :) Don't know if it's true at every Kilwins or not, but the Key West store offers a 20% military discount, so don't forget to ask!

  • Adam Y.

Run and ice cream go great together, trust me I talked to a pirate. Have an ice creme at this nice ice cream spot on Duval. For this the vanilla is best, be sure to get it in a cup the cone won't work then walk next door to Rum Bar and get a nice shot or two of sweet delicious rum all over it. Turns out I was the first one they had who requested it but I know good when I see it, ask the pirate.

Salted caramel fudge and chocolate peanut butter ice cream are amazing. Pricier here than other Kilwin's, but worth it while visiting the keys.

    (5)
  • Mihir M.

The service here was great. The owner & staff encouraged me to try several flavors & looked into their ingredient list to find out which flavors were eggless - most were! Their nutcracker sweet is also nice. A good place for ice cream & sweets in the main tourist area of Key West.

  • Howard B.

Great place for ice cream. I wandered in and had some of the best ice cream I have ever had. The people there are very helpful and offered samples of anything i was interested in. I did not know they were a chain but am happy to know now that there are more locations I can go to! Get the waffle cones - almost as good as the ice cream!

Toasted coconut ice cream. Freakin delish. My husband had the caramel and he loved it. Smells amazing and the staff does not hesitate to give tasting samples!

Nice shop and very helpful staff. Chocolates are really good but I also wanted to buy vanilla ice cream (a basic you would have thought) but they had NONE. Devastated.
